Don’t you just miss Vampires on TV

Friday, December 30th, 2005

Adam Brody if you don’t know plays Seth Cohen on FOX’s hit “The O.C.” Well he will be involved in a future pilot on NBC that has yet to announce a name for it. Its about a rookie LAPD officer that is assigned to a unit that monitors the city’s population of vampires. It’s Brody’s first run at producing a TV series (he’s co-producer of a feature-film remake of “Revenge of the Nerds”). NBC has given a script commitment to the untitled show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bartis and Liman’s company, Hypnotic, will produce the pilot along with NBC Universal TV.

Protests start because of a new show

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

A couple months ago I started telling you all about a new mid-season shows for the networks. The one that I liked is now started to be protested. NBC’s “The book of Daniel” is about Episcopal priest hooked on painkillers and having conversations with Jesus. His wife likes booze. His daughter sells drugs, and his son is gay. The fact that its being protested just makes me want to watch it even more. People who decide to protest shows only accomplish one thing which is giving that show more ratings. If you don’t like something don’t watch it. When you start to protest a TV show you draw interest from people that would normally not watch. So in protesting a show that hasn’t even started will just give it higher ratings. So to all you protesters thank you for giving shows more ratings.

Do you remember 1991

Monday, December 26th, 2005

One of the great shows Jim Henson produced is coming out on DVD. In 1991 Season 1 of “Dinosaurs” aired. You should all remember these catch phrases from the show. “Not the mama”, and “Gotta love me”. The show ended up with only four seasons. Sixty five episodes were made, but seven of them were unaired until syndication. Sometime in 2006 you can expect season one and possibly season 2. I say both because season one was only five episodes.

BUSY BUSY BUSY

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

Well with the holidays I’ve been busy and I’m sure you all have. So I apologize for not posting any news this week. I’ll quickly tell you all some news, than away I will go till after the holidays. First season 2 of FX’s Nip Tuck season finale got amazing ratings. I haven’t watched the second season or first except for the unaired pilot. But season one is on my wish list. Second its sad to say CBS’s Threshold is gone for good. The show had a great plot, but was on the worst network. The only thing CBS has going for them is CSI. Like I said before one I’m sure there will be a DVD with any unaried episodes, and two cable networks will pick up good shows that fail cause of crappy network presidents. I will bet that the SCI-Fi Channel will pick up Threshold. Well with all that said Happy Holidays to you all and your family. And you can expect more news, info and DVD releases in the new year from right here at TV’S BEST. Thank you all to who keep coming back and supporting me. And if I have one New years resolution for the new year is to give you all more of a voice, and for you to become a contributor and review a show that you love.

Masters of Horror DVD

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

I love Showtime’s new series “Masters of Horror”. Each episode is an hour long horror tale. Seven episodes have been aired so far and the show is doing well in ratings. But for fans who want the DVD are in for a shock. I will tell you exactly what’s going to happen but don’t freak out just yet. First here’s what sucks. IDT owned Anchor Bay is releasing the show onto DVD, but each DVD will contain ONLY one episode for like $16. Plus no Bonus material. Plus you would think ok that might suck, but at least we will get all the episodes on DVD nope not so. Only 6 of the episodes are making it to DVD. If your a die hard fan or want to see them I’m sure you will buy them. And for the only reason that I love the show I will post the release dates, but in time I’m sure there will be a DVD with all of them, but who’s gonna wait with the not knowing if they will do that.

March 28th will be the release of episode 8 and episode 2, which you can also buy in a 2 pack.
May 9th is the release of episode 1 and episode 5, plus the 2 pack also.
June 27th you can get episode 7 and episode 11, and the 2 pack.
July 18 episodes 9, 6, and 13 will be out, plus a 3 pack.

Again I make no promises of a full season DVD set with all episodes, but I’m sure if these single DVD releases fail in sales that is what will come. So its up you the fan if you want to wait for that.

What do you think?

Is it easier knowing that this year is the last for a show, or is better for it to disappear without us knowing why. This year is the last for the FOX hit comedy “That 70′s show”. So far this year two of the most famous of the cast has left the show. Ashton Kutcher, and Topher Grace both have moved on to their own things. But I’m sure they will both come back for the final episode. It would be nice to have a spin off show, but nothing can compare to the chemistry that the show has had over the years. I guess with the cast and crew knowing that this is the last season the writers can do some outrageous things. Maybe this year we will learn where Fez comes from, and his full name. This show will go out in a bang, and will be missed. Its just sad to see a good show go when you just know it could go on for years. But I guess its better preparing for the future loss than for it to be canceled and having story lines which leave us hanging.

Good News For Showtime Channel

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

Showtime’s comedy series “Weeds” earned three Golden Globe nominations today. A few hours after the Globes announcement this morning (Dec. 13), Showtime announced it was ordering a second delivery of the series. Production on the second season, which will run 12 episodes compared to 10 in season one is scheduled to begin in the spring. Showtime is aiming for a summer premiere date. It probably will start not long after the season one DVD comes out which will be in the spring.

Sci-Fi channel picks up another great show from Network TV

Monday, December 12th, 2005

ABC’s “Night Stalker” was on for only seven weeks. The Sci-Fi channel picked up rights for the show including the three never aired episodes. “Night Stalker” joins a roster of genre shows on Sci Fi that have been discarded by broadcast networks. The channel enjoyed success with “Firefly” repeats earlier this year and has also served as a second home for shows like “Now & Again” and “Roar” in the past. “Night Stalker” won’t begin airing until next summer. I’m betting that they will pick up CBS’s “Threshold” as well.

A Show I Can’t believe makes it to DVD

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

The Andy Milonakis show which airs on MTV and MTV2 is coming to DVD. Season one of this skit show I call it will be in stores March 28th. This kid if you don’t know was founded by internet. He had some webpage with clips of him singing songs about stuff most people his age don’t even know about. When I first saw the clips online I thought to myself a 2 year old could write a better parody song or what not. And of course MTV of all networks seemed to think this kid has talent. Its people like him that will corrupt your children. This kid is a no one with no time on his hands and has no life. The fact that that’s how he was discovered is sad. Honestly if you call him entertainment you have no life. All the show is about is this fat kid talking about potty humor and his best friend which is a dog. Its sad to see a network which was made for music come to broadcast a show about some kid who thinks its ok to talk about what he does. But hey as long as he makes the money the network wants who cares about morals and values.

People Upset about 24

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

For the past 4 Years FORD has been the sponsor for the FOX hit show “24″ On the most recent DVD of 24 the Prequel to season 5 says brought to you by Toyota. Ford has brought “24″ with no commercials in the past. And most die hard “24″ fans are upset about the switch. If “24″ gets free cars and money for a deal with Toyota that beats Ford, and which leaves the show with more money to spend on explosions and production costs what’s the harm. What do you think about Jack driving a little kia or small car instead of an American made car for an American made show. Feel free to leave a comment on what you think about the change.
