NBC pulls a stunt for sweeps

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

The late Rod Serling will introduce a 3D episode of its supernatural drama Medium. Rod Serling if you don’t know was the creator of The original “Twilight Zone”. The November 21 broadcast of Medium, starring Patricia Arquette as a psychic crime solver, will feature several spooky three-dimensional effects, and the network is distributing millions of 3D glasses, most of them through TV Guide magazine, ahead of the episode. Medium is not the first TV show to dabble in 3D, though the effect is more common in movies. Other TV series to experiment with the effect in recent years have been The Drew Carey Show and 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Prison Break Producer dies

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

One of the producers of FOX’s hit show “Prison Break” has died. He was found dead in the Drake Hotel in Chicago. No word on the cause of death, but it is assumed to be drugs. I don’t have a name cause the news just came out, and most TV news sites wont know for days. So your hearing it here first. I will update this post when I get all the info.

ABC cancels Night Stalker

Monday, November 14th, 2005

ABC is canning the show only after airing 6 episodes. The show wasn’t pulling enough ratings. Thursdays are a tough night for them cause of CBS’s “CSI”, which gets like 28 million viewers. Nine episodes of “Night Stalker” were filmed. At the moment, ABC has no plans to air the three that haven’t been seen yet.

Bad news For Arrested Development

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

The third season after going on Hiatus for baseball has been cut to a 13 episode commitment compared to previous seasons with 20+ eps. Ratings have not done well this season. In my opinion its because dam fox moved it to Monday. Even though the show won numerous emmys and best comedy it is unlikely that we will see another season of this show. Our only hope is that the show gets picked up by another network. FOX is notorious for moving than canceling great shows. It just shows you even a show that has won awards stands no chance against the network executives.

The Terminator story will become a show on FOX

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

Producers Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna, who brought “Terminator 3″ to the big screen two years ago, are looking to bring the story to television. FOX is happy to oblige them, giving a pilot commitment to the project. The pilot, written by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”), is tentatively titled “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” the showbiz trade papers report. It will follow Sarah and her teenage son John — whose destiny is to save humanity from the machines — in the years between the second and third “Terminator” films. It will definitely be an interesting drama for FOX to do. No word on a date, but I will post when that news comes to me.

O.C. Fans

Remember Kaitlin Cooper the daughter of Julie copper sister of Marissa. Well Next year (which means another season) she will come back, but a new actress will play her. She will be 14 years old when we see her next. Willa Holland (“The Comeback”) will play New Kaitlin in a multi-episode arc starting early next year. Her character will be a mini me so to speak of her mother. I can’t imagine what the writers will do for her part.

Examples of Freebies when you buy DVD’S

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

As I have said before certain retailers will give you free stuff when you buy a DVD to get your money. Most places all do it now. Like today for the new “Beavis And Butthead” DVD, if you got it at FYE you got this bonus DVD with it. Today when I got my DVD at Suncoast I got a free animation cell. Last year TV DVD sales did over 2 billion $’s. Which when I was younger I knew that it was a good idea before they did it, but anyway. If you like your shows and plan to get them if you go on the release date you might just get a special something with it. Because all the stores are doing it.

CBS makes a change for sweeps month

Monday, November 7th, 2005

CBS has decided to switch “Threshold” to Tuesday nights. “Threshold” won’t take over at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays until Nov. 22 . Threshold they said is not a failure, they just wont more ratings, cause they believe in the shows potential. Expectations were that “Threshold,” with its alien invasion themes, would play will with Jennifer Love Hewitt communicating with the dead. While “Ghost Whisperer” has been a solid hit with nearly 11 million viewers per week, “Threshold” has struggled to retain that audience, averaging just 7.8 million viewers. It might be a good switch. Like I said in a previous post CBS started to put threshold online as a video stream, so people that missed it could see it. So I know that they won’t give up on the show.

TV reminder for FOX cartoons tonight

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

My favorite Simpson episodes are the Treehouse of Horrors. Which another edition airs tonight. And you can’t forget about an all new Family Guy. And also American dad. Remember no other network does cartoons like FOX, and no other network would get the ratings for them like fox does.
