2005-2006 New midseason shows

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

Well I have mentioned a lot of new shows already. So I wont waste space naming them again. If your curious you can scroll down to read past posts. First is a 30 min sitcom on ABC called “Crumbs”. Mitch Crumb (Fred Savage) returns home to check on the family after his mother is released from a psychiatric hospital. However, his mother is not the only eccentric member of the family as Mitch soon learns after reuniting with his brother as well as his father. Seeing that the family is still in turmoil, he decides to move back home. Also to come on ABC is an hour long drama called “The Evidence”. In a slightly altered version of the procedural crime drama, this program focuses on the most important tool used in investigations: the evidence. Episodes engage the viewer to solve the crime by letting them see in order what the investigators see giving them the opportunity to solve the case along with the show. Also coming to ABC is a show called “Miracle Workers”. PremiseMedicine comes to the forefront in this program as it brings hope to patients who feel they have lost it all. Through the use of innovative medical treatments, the doctors surpass the patients expectations and become Miracle Workers. A new hour long drama is coming to CBS called “The Unit”. The Unit follows a team of undercover special forces officers as they travel the world to protect national security. The series will also feature a look at how their home lives are impacted by their jobs. Fox has a new 30 min comedy called “Freebirds”. Freebirds is another Mid-Season semi-improvised sitcom. The plot here revolves around Nate, a young man forced to move back in with his parents. Once there, he reunites with an old girlfriend. This next show I will be watching on NBC called “Book of Daniel”. Reverend Daniel Webster has a troubled relationship with his family and the church hierarchy. Complicating matters further is his addiction to prescription drugs. On the positive side, he receives help via direct communications from Jesus. Next on NBC which was originally developed for FOX is a show called “Windfall”. Windfall follows a group of diverse individualwhatot suddenly find their lives turned completely around after becoming millionaires from a lottery win. There is morI i could mention, buI don’tnt want to make this post so big you don’t want to read it. Also these shows may or may not air. The networks tend to change things around a few times each season, and could just as easily make another deal for another show. So keep checking back here for the latest TV news.

Don’t Forget about canceled shows.

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

Don’t forget to pick up your copy of the canceled FOX show “Point Pleasant”. Nothing better than a girl that is the daughter of Satan and the daughter of an angel. Just imagine what will happen in the unaired episodes on this DVD. Please pick yourself up a copy on 10\25\05. Don’t forget DVD sales sometimes save a show from the graveyard. Look what happened to Family Guy. The DVD sales brought that show back. And the fans of Firefly got a movie. So just because a show is gone doesn’t mean it can’t come back. So don’t give up hope.

New show for NBC

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

NBC is developing a sitcom based on the graphic novel Meet the Haunteds, about an upper-middle-class white family that moves into a restored house haunted by a black family from the early 1970s.
The project is a “supernatural culture clash,” said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, chairman of producer Platinum Studios, whose library includes more than 3,000 comic book characters and more than 1,000 stories.
“It’s really about everyone getting along no matter how disparate and different (the two families’) beliefs are,” said Rosenberg. “There’s no limit behind the stories we can tell about such different families getting along and not getting along.”
NBC has signed a script deal for the project; there is no writer yet attached.

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

FOX’s new shows “The war at home”, and “Bones” both have been picked up for a full season. And to recap FOX also ordered More episodes of “Prison Break”, and “American Dad”. Well Comedy Central has a bunch of new shows ready for everyone to laugh at. I’ll give you a brief rundown of the new shows to air on Comedy Central. Sarah Silverman’s untitled project, in which she’ll star as “a detached and eccentric woman with no discernible goals.” Comic scenes and songs in each episode will tell the story of a day in her life. Next is “Gay Robot,” from Adam Sandler’s company, Happy Madison. Comedian Nick Swardson (“Reno 911!”) will voice the title character, a robot who discovers he’s gay after a spilled wine cooler fries his circuit board. Third is “Freak Show,” an animated series from David Cross and Jon Benjamin (“Dr. Katz,” “Home Movies”) about a group of sideshow performers — including a pair of Siamese twins, the World’s Tallest Nebraskan and The Bearded Clam — who are also B-list superheroes. When a crisis is too small for the Justice Squad, they step in. Forth is Red State Diaries,” in which Lewis Black hits the road to meet the subjects of some of his rants and find out more about Middle America. Next is “Not Another High School Show,” which will parody teen dramas from “Buffy” to “The O.C.” The show comes from “Not Another Teen Movie” co-writer Mike Bender and director Joel Gallen. Number six is Morgan Spurlock’s “Public Nuisance,” a sketch/hidden-camera show in which the “Super Size Me” director and a band of pranksters take on hot-button issues. And last is Wee on America,” starring “Jackass” regular Jason “Wee Man” Acuna as he takes on normal-sized challengers across America in a series of mental and physical competitions. I will post dates and times for these new shows as well.

Muppet Writer Dies

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Jerry Juhl, an Emmy-winning writer for “The Muppet Show” died on Sept. 27 at the age of 67 of cancer. Juhl was the first full-time employee for the Jim Henson Co. He also helped write for Sesame Street and co-created Fraggle Rock. Juhl served as head writer for “The Muppet Show” from 1977-1981 and continued his work with this gang through several movies including “The Muppet Movie,” “The Great Muppet Caper,” “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” “Muppet Treasure Island” and “Muppets from Space.” In my opinion its a sad time for the muppet world.

My predictions are coming true

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Before the new fall season started I gave my picks of shows I liked, and new would do well in ratings. Most of my picks were all supernatural dramas. Like I have said before since shows like Medium and Lost do so well and win many awards. All the networks want to join the club to fight for your ratings. With that said again I was right about CBS’s show Ghost Whisperer. Ghost Whisperer, which stars Hewitt as a woman who can communicate with dead people, ranked as Friday night’s most-watched show, albeit only by a hair over CBS’s 10 p.m. procedural Numbers. Whisperer brought in an average of 10.9 million viewers and 2.8 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, compared to 10.8 million and 3.2/9 in 18-49 for Numbers, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. And even more good news The WB’s new show Supernatural has been picked up for a full season. “‘Supernatural’ has delivered in a huge way for us,” WB Entertainment president David Janollari says. “It’s a really cool show that’s already hooked millions of viewers and has quickly emerged as one of the most buzzworthy shows of the new season. [Executive producers] Eric Kripke, McG and Bob Singer have done a terrific job executing their vision, and we expect the show to be a long-term player at The WB.”

Returning Shows (update)

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

On Wednesday October 19th the second season of Drawn Together starts on comedy central. It is possible that the 6th season of Punk’d will start Sunday October 30th, but that date may change. If it does you can be sure I will tell you. Wednesday November the 9th the second season of Stacked will air on fox. The sequel to the hit mini-series 10.5 comes back on Sunday November the 27th. It will be called “10.5: apocalypse”. Part 2 will air the next day. If you all read my blog you would know when the new seasons of That 70s show and 24 start so ill skip those 2 favorites. The 4th season of The Simple life might start sometime in 2006. No word on the date. Believe it or not there will be a second season of FOX’s Hells Kitchen which should start sometime next year also. There’s so many other shows to mention as well, but I will update once I know exact dates of the rest.
